Deoria Tal Chopta Chandrashilla – Most Alluring Winter Trek In Uttarakhand
Deoria Tal Chopta Chandrashilla Trek

Here is a trek review documented by Sindhu of Deoria Tal Chopta Chandrashilla Trek during winters.

Winter is the season when we think the Himalayas roar with heavy snowfall, and is inaccessible. The general perception is that it’s not the right time to visit these beautiful mountains.

But the Hike Brothers team is one of those who took up the mission to let commoners & trekkers experience the gorgeousness of these mighty mountains.

Deoriatal Chopta Chandrashila Trek is a minor part of this beautiful landscape and has its own place and beauty to it.

Winters give striking sceneries that the human mind might fall short of words trying to appreciate it. On a clear day, you can witness lush green forests meeting blue sky through snow-capped peaks. On a cloudy day, grey clouds and white snow show you their magic that you can’t stop yourself from falling for them.

Day 1: Reaching The Charismatic Sari Village

The overnight journey begins from Delhi via Haridwar and Rishikesh. On the way, you can see the beautiful mountains and valleys of Ganga with rich green forests.

Moving forward via two of the Panch Prayag, especially at Devprayag, you can witness the holy Sangam of Bhagirathi and Alaknanda, a must-watch.

As we reach Ukhimath, you can get a view of snow peaks standing far waiting for you to conquer them. From Ukhimath, we reach the tiny but charismatic Sari village.

Day 2: Trek To Pristine Deoria Tal

Sari village is the starting point of Deoria Tal trek at 6000 ft. From here trail for Deoria Tal starts which is around 3 km.

As one goes up, the mountains seem like a warrior in shining armour with the sun hitting their snow-capped peaks.

Once we reach the lake, deciduous trees with shredded leaves mixed with alpines pave the way to jaw-dropping DeoriaTal lake. Covered in the snow all around, the still water gives a beautiful reflection of the peaks standing tall.

Sunset hits the peaks and makes it look like they are drenched in gold. The 300-degree panorama view of Chaukhamba, Trishul, Nanda Devi, and others is going to leave you in awe at nature’s creation.

From the Camp, the lights of far villages seem like fireflies. And the view of Milky Way galaxy with humongous stars brightening right on you is an experience that you’re never going to forget.

Day 3: Trek To Snowy Chopta Tungnath Chandrashilla

It starts with trekking down to Sari village in the early hours and en route Chopta!

Snowy Chopta will make you forget all the European countries you dreamt of visiting. It’s a portrait which you can’t stop looking at.

Once you reach Chopta, the main Tungnath Chandrashila trek starts. On the way to Tungnath, you get to see the steepest of snow-covered valleys and the streaks of snow mountains getting clearer and clearer.

Tungnath, the highest Shiva temple in the world is partially or completely covered in snow during this season. Still, it’s rich divinity will pacify your soul like none.

From Tungnath, the climb to Chandrashila begins. A bit difficult trail with knee-deep snow is going to test you. But will also encourage you to reach the summit to get the 360 views of Garhwal Himalayas.

The  Chandrashila summit at 14000 ft gives you a picturesque view of mighty peaks. Including Neelkanth, Bandarpunch, Nanda Devi, Trisul, and many others.

The charming view will not let your eyes blink but also let you watch them in astonishment. The chilly weather with a mix of fresh air and staunch sun on top will make you bow down at nature’s delightful creation.chandrashilla

After a tiresome trek with a bumpy snow glide, a sip of coffee under a blanket of stars is a feeling you would never want to miss.

Though it’s a winter trek, steep valleys, flowing rivers, calm lake, numerous stars, lush green forests, and many more wonders can be seen all together. Such is the thrill in trekking to Deoria Tal Chopta Chandrashilla in winters.

With so much to present in front of us, Deoria Tal Chopta Chandrashilla trek is surely one of the most alluring treks in Uttarakhand which one cannot miss at any cost.
